Coaches

Our coaches at Worsley Swimming Club are all fully qualified, enthusiastic and dedicated to their roles.

Read about the ASA/UKCC Qualifications which our coaches hold here

All of the coaches are ex-competitive swimmers for either Worsley Swimming Club, Salford Swimming Club or both, and therefore can fully relate to the swimmers whilst putting their first-hand knowledge and expertise into practice. Our coaches are also CRB checked and attend regular courses to enhance their knowledge further, including safeguarding, equity and teaching children with disabilities. Read on to learn more about each of our coaches.

Abbie Lockitt (Head Coach)

Qualification: ASA/UKCC Teaching Aquatics Level 2, 1st Class BSc (Hons) Key Stage 2/3 Education QTS

Abbie has been a member of the Worsley ASC coaching staff for over 2 years now, and took over from Alison as Head Coach in September 2009. She works mainly with the advanced swimmers in the large pool but also teaches the beginners on a Monday night.

Abbie is qualified as a Level 2 swimming teacher and also holds her National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. As well as her teaching and coaching role with Worsley ASC, Abbie also studies Key Stage 2/3 Education with Art and Design at Edge Hill University with aspirations of becoming a Primary School Teacher once she has graduated. She also has strong links with the City of Salford Swimming Scheme as a cover coach across the levels and teaches classes in the 'learn to swim' programme for Salford Community Leisure.

Abbie swam competitively for the Salford Swimming Scheme and Worsley ASC up until she was 16 years of age. She represented Salford and the North West at National level as an individual and as part of the 4 x 100 FC team. As an ex-competitive swimmer, Abbie thoroughly enjoys giving back to the Sport through coaching for Worsley. She loves helping the children to achieve their personal, unique goals, be it to keep fit and have fun with swimming or to compete at a high level of competition and achieve the best result possible. She enjoys finding new training methods integrating fun, different, beneficial activites to make swimming more enjoyable and more suited to different levels of ability.
